
The effort by U&I Palm Enterprises to maximally harness the potentials of the Nigerian agricultural sector in the most efficient way in order to ensure food security and boost Nigeria’s profile in palm production as well as provide Nigerians with affordable and highly nutritive palm products has once again been given tremendous recognition.
The latest of such recognitions was the award of excellence presented to the company by the Government of Akwa Ibom state on the 20th of September 2017. The award which was part of the state government’s Dakkada initiative designed to celebrate homegrown industries that are bringing disruptive innovations into the market place in order to not only remain competitive, profitable and viable, thus providing jobs and prosperity to the unemployed youths, but contribute to the state’s GDP.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, the Chief Executive Officer, Imaobong Ekanem described the award as a fresh motivation to continue to improve production processes and innovation in order to deliver a more affordable and highly satisfactory product to the numerous customers. She mentioned that the company has introduced sachet palm oil as an economy pack to increase the affordability of the product and ensure that every Nigerian irrespective of economic class enjoys the awesome product.
Imaobong commended the state government for the initiative which according to her will tremendously promote the entrepreneurial culture in the state. She called on all young people in Nigeria and beyond to consider entrepreneurship as the most potent means of escaping the shackles of poverty and unemployment.
The CEO called on other government institutions as well as corporate institutions to roll out more activities that will encourage entrepreneurship in Nigeria and reward homegrown solutions that are very relevant to the Nigerian society. She added that at the moment, U&I Palm Enterprise had rolled out some programmes to encourage local entrepreneurship as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
